Description

NuvaRing is a convenient and highly effective form of hormonal birth control that provides continuous contraception for women. It is a small, flexible, and transparent vaginal ring that contains two hormones, ethinyl estradiol, and etonogestrel. These hormones work together to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm from reaching the egg, and altering the uterine lining to make it less receptive to implantation.

NuvaRing offers a convenient alternative to daily birth control pills, as it only needs to be inserted into the vagina once a month. It provides 3 weeks of continuous contraception, followed by a 1-week break, during which a woman will typically experience her menstrual period. After the 1-week break, a new ring is inserted to continue protection against pregnancy.

Usage

Usage:
Using NuvaRing is simple and can be done by following these steps:
1. Hand Hygiene: Commence the process by thoroughly cleansing your hands using soap and water.
2. Open the Package: Each NuvaRing comes in a foil pouch. Open the pouch carefully to avoid damaging the ring.
3. Choose a Comfortable Position: Find a comfortable position for insertion, such as lying down, squatting, or standing with one leg raised. You have the flexibility to select the position that is most comfortable for you.
4. Insert the Ring: Hold the NuvaRing between your thumb and index finger and press the sides of the ring together. Gently insert the folded ring into your vagina, similar to inserting a tampon. Make sure it is placed high in the vaginal canal.
5. Ensure Proper Placement: You should not be able to feel the ring once it's in place. If you can feel it or it feels uncomfortable, gently push it further up with your finger.
6. Leave in Place: NuvaRing remains in place for 3 weeks, continuously releasing hormones to prevent pregnancy. During this time, you don't need to worry about taking a daily pill.
7. Remove and Replace: After 3 weeks, remove the ring by hooking your finger under the edge and gently pulling it out. Dispose of the used ring in a safe manner. Wait 1 week without a ring to allow for your menstrual period.
8. Insert a New Ring: On the same day of the week that you inserted the previous ring, insert a new NuvaRing to continue contraception.
It's essential to follow the instructions provided with NuvaRing carefully. If you have any questions or concerns about usage, consult your healthcare provider.
