Description
Zepbound™ is injected under the skin. The medication is slowly absorbed compared to intravenous injections but much faster than oral medication.
As a GLP-1 agonist, Zepbound™ helps lower blood sugar levels and promote weight loss. It suppresses the appetite and alters the absorption that happens in the stomach. It slows the movement of food from the stomach to the small intestine, which allows patients to feel full for long periods.
Zepbound™ is expected to be a long-term treatment. Results will not happen immediately, but the effects can be dramatic. It is important to note that this medication should be used alongside proper diet and exercise to maximize desired results.
Individual results vary per patient. During the clinical trials, patients who have taken a 5mg dose of Zepbound™ weekly after 72 weeks have lost 35 lbs. on average. Meanwhile, patients who were given a placebo lost 5.3 lbs. around the same time. As a result of the trials, those who took higher doses of Zepbound™ lost more weight:
| Dosage | Average Weight Loss After 72 Weeks |
| 5 mg | 35.5 lbs. |
| 10 mg | 48. 9 lbs. |
| 15 mg | 52 lbs. |
Those who participated in the trials lost 21% of their body weight. Subjects who did not have diabetes and were given 15 mg per week lost 18% while those with diabetes lost 12%.
