This medication falls within the alkylating agents class and exerts its effects by impeding the growth of cancer cells when used for cancer treatment. In the context of nephrotic syndrome, it suppresses the immune system.

Special Precautions	Special Precautions: Before using cyclophosphamide: • Inform your doctor and pharmacist about any allergies you have to cyclophosphamide, other alkylating agents like bendamustine (Treanda®), busulfan (Myleran®, Busulfex®), carmustine (BiCNU®, Gliadel® Wafer), chlorambucil (Leukeran®), ifosfamide (Ifex®), lomustine (CeeNU®), melphalan (Alkeran®), procarbazine (Mutalane®), or temozolomide (Temodar®), as well as any other medications or ingredients in cyclophosphamide. Avoid planning to have children during chemotherapy or shortly after treatment (consult your doctor for specifics).
