Indications:
● Glaucoma Management: Reduces elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
● After Eye Surgeries: May sometimes be used after certain types of eye surgeries to reduce pressure in the eye.
Administration Guidelines
Dosage and Application:
● The standard initial dose for adults is one drop of 0.25% concentration in the affected eye(s) twice daily. If the response is not adequate, the dose may be increased to one drop of 0.5% concentration twice daily.
Method of Administration:
● Direct Topical Application: Instill one drop into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye, taking care not to touch the tip of the bottle to the eye or surrounding areas.
Adjustment and Titration:
● Dosage may be adjusted based on patient response and intraocular pressure readings. Titration should always be directed by an ophthalmologist or healthcare professional.
Safety Precautions
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
● Timoptic should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman.
Drug Interactions:
● Timolol can interact with systemic beta-blockers and other medications. Always inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking before starting Timoptic.
