Betoptic S, containing the active ingredient betaxolol hydrochloride, is an ophthalmic solution for treating elevated intraocular pressure in patients with chronic open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. As a selective beta1-adrenergic receptor inhibitor, Betoptic S reduces intraocular pressure with minimal effect on heart and lung function.
| Usage | Betoptic S is to be used strictly as directed by an ophthalmologist or eye care professional. The recommended dose is one or two drops of Betoptic S 0.25% ophthalmic suspension in the affected eye(s) twice daily. To apply the eye drops: 1. Wash your hands thoroughly before use. 2. Shake the bottle well before each use. 3. Tilt your head slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. 4. Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze a drop into this pocket. Close your eyes for 1 or 2 minutes. 5. Apply gentle pressure to the inside corner of the eye for about 1 minute to prevent the fluid from draining into your tear duct. 6. If you use more than one drop, wait about 5 minutes between drops. 7. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Betoptic S and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. 8. Avoid touching the dropper tip to keep it clean and prevent contamination. |
