In case tablets are broken or crushed, avoid direct contact with your bare hands. Even if you feel well, continue taking bosutinib. Discontinuation should only occur after consulting your doctor. Before initiating bosutinib:
• Disclose any allergies to bosutinib or its ingredients to your doctor and pharmacist. Obtain a list of these ingredients from your pharmacist.
• Inform your doctor and pharmacist about all prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, supplements, and herbal products you take or intend to take. Mention any of the following: antifungal drugs like fluconazole (Diflucan), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), posaconazole (Noxafil), and voriconazole (Vfend); boceprevir (Victrelis); aprepitant (Emend); bosentan (Tracleer); certain HIV medications such as amprenavir (Agenerase), atazanavir (Reyataz), darunavir (Prezista), efavirenz (Sustiva), etravirine (Intelence), fosamprenavir (Lexiva), indinavir (Crixivan), nelfinavir (Viracept), ritonavir (Norvir), and saquinavir (Invirase); stomach acid reducers like esomeprazole (Nexium), lansoprazole (Prevacid), omeprazole (Prilosec), pantoprazole (Protonix), and rabeprazole (AcipHex); certain seizure medications like carbamazepine (Tegretol), phenobarbital (Luminal), and phenytoin (Dilantin); ciprofloxacin (Cipro, Proquin XR); clarithromycin (Biaxin); digoxin (Digitek, Lanoxin); diltiazem (Cardizem, Dilacor, Tiazac); erythromycin (E.E.S., E-Mycin, Erythrocin); modafinil (Provigil); nafcillin (Unipen, Nallpen); nefazodone; rifabutin (Mycobutin); rifampin (Rimactane, Rifadin, in Rifater, in Rifamate); telaprevir (Incivek); telithromycin (Ketek); and verapamil (Calan, Isoptin, Verelan). Many other medications may also interact with bosutinib, so inform your doctor of all medications, even if not listed here.
• If you're taking antacids like aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide (Maalox), calcium carbonate (Tums), or a combination of calcium carbonate and magnesium (Rolaids), or acid-reducing meds like cimetidine (Tagamet), famotidine (Pepcid), or ranitidine (Zantac), take them 2 hours before or after bosutinib.
• Notify your doctor of any herbal products you use, especially St. John's wort.
• Discuss any history of liver or heart disease with your doctor.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant. Do not conceive while on bosutinib; utilize effective birth control during treatment and for a month afterward. Consult your doctor about suitable birth control methods. If you become pregnant while on bosutinib, contact your doctor, as it may harm the fetus.
• Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Avoid breastfeeding while taking bosutinib.
